Where Do You Think You’re Going?

"Life is a Journey”…Life is a journey my ass. Who comes up with this garbage? 

A boat trip to The Holy Land might be a journey. A pilgramage to Lumbini might be a journey. An all-inclusive to the Golden Temple or to the Shrine of the Bab, maybe. But life is not a journey.

Life is waking up every day in the same house, going to the same job, talking to the same people. Life is washing the same clothes, eating the same food and watching the same TV. Life is not down the road where you are skinnier, prettier, richer, happier, healthier and of course adored by everyone. Life is what you are doing right now.

To be on a journey is to suggest going to a place other than where you at the moment. Hear this, the only journey you are on right now is the one that leads right into a hole carved out beneath 12,000 pounds of dirt and rocks or if your family is a bunch of cheapskates your journey may end at about 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. 

Now I’m not here to debate about the afterlife. Really, I am a terrible debater. But consider the life you are living on this earth and ask yourself…Why do I want to be in a place other than where I am in this moment? 

If you don't like where you are and your life is filled with discontentment and wishful thinking because you’re not doing what you want to do or you’re not being who you want to be, remember this—if you grab a snake at its middle or at its tail you will get bitten for sure, but if you grab a snake right behind its slimy head, then you will avoid getting gnawed on by a couple of long sharp teeth. 

Stop dicking around and grab that snake right behind its head like the total bad-ass you are. Face your demons. Fix your shit. Because that someplace else that you are on "a journey" to, it might be way better (in your head) but guess what... that is not going to help you right now.
